2025 Purple Loosestrife Biocontrol Project application

Volunteers are expected to raise beetles in enclosures on their property in Minnesota. Do you own or have access to property in Minnesota?

As a volunteer, you will be required to attend one volunteer training session. During this session, you will receive your beetle-raising kit and learn how to set it up for the best outcome. You will also learn more about data collection protocols and reporting requirements. Trainings will take place in the afternoon (2:00-4:00 PM). Regardless of where your property is, you may attend either of the two sessions based on availability or convenience. Which Saturday training date would you be more likely to attend?

The ideal location for a beetle enclosure would be a 16 sq foot space next to a structure (house, shed, fence) in full sun where the plants are shielded from the wind. Attachment points to string a clothesline above the space, such as trees or posts, are also helpful in optimizing your setup. A watering source should also be considered. Please select any or all of the resources you have available. Please note that answering no does not exclude you from eligibility.
