St. Croix River | An Important Bird Area

What is an IBA?

An Important Bird Area is a site that provides essential habitat to one or more species of birds. There are 88 IBA sites in Wisconsin, and 57 in Minnesota. IBAs are voluntary and non-regulatory, and part of an international conservation effort.

Why the St. Croix?

The St. Croix River is wild, scenic and protected, providing the perfect place for several IBAs located within the boundaries of the river.
