A Billion Years of Interstate State Park

Along a sharp bend of the St. Croix River, billion-year-old echoes of the past whisper an almost unbelievable story of change. Join interpretive naturalist, Jenni Webster, on a virtual tour of Minnesota Interstate State Park to explore this incredible story and the unique features it left behind. You’ll discover a rifting continent, lava flows, an ancient sea and roaring glacial waters. Jenni will also reveal how these geologic events led to the creation of a state park.

Biologist - Retired from National Park Service

Breeding Bird Surveys - St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

Robin worked at St. Croix National Scenic Riverway as a biologist. During that time, he conducted Breeding Bird Surveys on the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers between 1998 and 2012 and continued for three years post-retirement. Partial analyses in 2008 and 2014 on the accumulated data are presented including the statistical status of selected species whether increasing, stable, or declining. Viewers will also enjoy the pleasure of Robin's favorite photographs of Riverway birds.

Taking Action on Climate Change & Preparing for the Future

Learn about climate change in the St. Croix watershed and how you can take action to prepare for its effects. The session will begin with a look at local climate change projections and will break down the basics of how to read climate data. From there, we'll go over the two main pathways of fighting climate change: mitigation and adaptation. The mitigation section will go over actions individuals can take to reduce their carbon emissions. The adaptation section will cover actions we can take to prepare for the effects of climate change that are projected to occur.
