Kristin McElligott is a Wisconsin native, conservation scientist, ecosystem ecologist, and soil scientist with 17 years of experience advancing land, water, and habitat conservation across the Upper Midwest. She holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science and Ecosystem Ecology from Virginia Tech and has led conservation programs and partnerships with federal, state, Tribal, nonprofit, and local government partners throughout her career.

Her expertise includes watershed management, ecological restoration, soil health, climate-smart agriculture, and conservation planning. Kristin is passionate about applying science in practical, community-centered ways that support both healthy ecosystems and resilient communities.

A resident of the St. Croix River watershed, Kristin enjoys hiking, camping, birding, and exploring Wisconsin’s forests and rivers. She is guided by a deep appreciation for the connections between nature, community, and stewardship.
