National Park Partnership
Expanding Support For Our National Park

National Park Partners since 2011
Since formalizing our partnership in 2011, Wild Rivers Conservancy works in direct collaboration with the National Park Service to deliver projects and programs that protect the Riverway’s wild and scenic values. Together, we expand the capacity of the national park, supporting resource stewardship, enhancing visitor experiences, and responding to emerging needs across the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers.

The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, established in 1968 under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and expanded in 1972 to include the Lower St. Croix, protects 255 miles of river corridor from the headwaters of the Namekagon River to the confluence of the St. Croix River with the Mississippi River at Prescott. The National Park Service manages the river and federally owned lands and shoreline along the upper 230 miles. The lower 25 miles is a federally designated Wild and Scenic River corridor jointly managed by Minnesota DNR, Wisconsin DNR, and the National Park Service.
Designated for its Outstandingly Remarkable Values, the Riverway preserves free-flowing conditions, exceptional water quality, and outstanding scenic, recreational, cultural, geological, and ecological resources.
We Partner to Provide a Deeper National Park Experience
Together, Wild Rivers Conservancy and the National Park Service achieve more than either could alone. Our formal partnership with the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway amplifies impact by leveraging philanthropic support, shared expertise, and joint programs to deliver more for the river and its visitors.
