About the Presenter:

Abstract: “What Could Be Bugging Your Tree?”

Taking a walk through a forest you’ll notice some insect feeding damage on leaves, maybe an egg mass on a branch or hidden on the bark, and maybe you’ll see some woodpeckers going for insect larvae under the bark. There are many emerging forest pests to be on the look out for including emerald ash borer, gypsy moth, Asian longhorn beetle, elongate hemlock scale, and spotted lanternfly. Learn how to identify each species, it’s host plants, and where it’s currently found in Minnesota and the US.

Jennifer Burington is the Outreach Coordinator for the Plant Protection Division of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. She has worked on invasive species detection and management throughout Minnesota, with a focus on emerald ash borer over the last 10 years.
