St. Croix Shores Hike

Savor the final moments of autumn with a guided hike and community campfire at Afton State Park. Conservancy Naturalist Jeremiah Walters will lead the way as we take in the last of the fall colors, listen to the waves roll into the shores of the St. Croix River, breathe in the crisp air, and share stories and s’mores around the fire. All you need to do is show up. We’ll have the fire, treats, and warm beverages ready.
Hike length: 2.6 Mile Round Trip
Hike difficulty: Easy to Moderate, steep terrain in a small section with steps, but relatively flat for the remainder of the trail.
Cost: Free (State Park Admission Required)
Features or other notes of interest: Beautiful beach along the St. Croix, bluff views of the river valley. State Park bathroom facilities will be open.
Recommended items to bring/ wear:
- Long pants
- Upper body layers like long-sleeved shirt and jacket (moisture-wicking fabric is always a plus)
- Shoes or boots with traction
- Hat or beanie
- Gloves or mittens
- Adequate water
- Flashlight or headlamp
