Become a citizen scientist and make a positive difference for the rivers you love with this free training!
Did you know you can help protect your rivers by keeping an eye out for invasive species during your adventures and reporting what you see? Volunteers like you play a key role in early detection efforts that protect rivers from invasive species.
Project RED (Riverine Early Detectors) is a monitoring program designed to teach anyone how to identify and report invasive species within river corridors across the state. After attending this FREE training program on Friday, August 13, you’ll know:
-
-
-
-
-
-
- How to use easy and fun protocols to become more familiar with your river or stream
- How to monitor your river for species of concern, whether you’re in a canoe, kayak, or on foot
- How to report your findings to the Wisconsin DNR

You’ll be provided with all the tools you need, including identification resources and online data management tools to report your findings to the Wisconsin DNR. And after the morning training, you’ll get to put those new skills into practice with an afternoon paddle on the St. Croix River!
Lunch will be provided, along with kayaks, canoes, paddles, and life jackets for the paddle portion of the event. Please register below to save your spot, and invite your neighbors to register too!
The rivers need you. Register today to make a difference!
