Learn to Paddle: Lake O’ the Dalles, August 18

Have you wanted to learn how to paddle but didn’t know how to get started?
Do you know someone who would love to learn how to explore the river in a kayak?
We’ve got you covered with FREE learn-to-paddle events on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer! Learn the essential skills and build your confidence on the water with the expert help of Wild Rivers Conservancy Naturalist Jeremiah Walters.
Join in anytime between 5:00-7:00 PM to learn:
- The basics of properly fitting a life jacket
- How to hold your paddle
- …and common paddling techniques.
Once you’re in your kayak on the water, you’ll get the chance to practice your new skills! Explore the lake and its forested shoreline at your own pace and watch for some possible guest appearances by local wildlife.
This is a free, drop-in event—no registration is required. Kayaks, paddles, and PFDs will be provided, but please note that a valid Wisconsin State Parks Pass is required for entry. (Click here to purchase in advance.)

Where: Lake O’ the Dalles, Wisconsin Interstate State Park
Follow Park Road down towards the amphitheater by Lake O’ the Dalles. Park your car in that lot, then look for the Conservancy’s feather flag as you cross Park Road and head towards the lake!
