Garlic Mustard and Native Ephemerals Hike

Celebrate the arrival of spring with a native and invasive plant ID hike at Willow River State Park!

Experts from Wild Rivers Conservancy and Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Park will teach plant identification, impacts of invasive species, how to report invasive species, and will highlight spring ephemerals that can be found in our region. Field guides will be available along with demonstrations to help you identify native and non-native plants as we stroll the trail together.

Cost: Suggested $10 donation

Vehicle Admission: $8 state park day use fee upon entry

Hike Length: 1.5 miles

Hike Difficulty: Good for beginners, with some uneven terrain

Meeting Location: Willow River State Park Nature Center

Bathrooms: There are restrooms available at Nature Center and Picnic Pavilion

Recommended items to bring/wear:

  • Comfortable, closed toe shoes for hiking
  • Comfortable clothing and layers (appropriate for the weather)
  • Sun Protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Insect repellent (optional)

Cancelation Information:

For the safety of participants and staff, this program may be canceled due to inclement weather. Registered participants will be notified via email and event pages will be updated if the program is canceled.
